Thanks guys...

About the walk thing, I told myself (while I was still running) that I was only going to stop running long enough to stop the burn in my quads. As soon as I stopped running I took a drink, relaxed my quads while I walked and then said to myself (out loud) "c'mon Trinity, pick it up and push on to the finish, not far now". I must have only walked about 10 steps if that. Plus I was within a mile and a half of the finish, so I knew if I ran I'd be finished within 12 minutes or so.

I have run/walked before... but that was a 52 mile 'race'. I guess I should go and find the thread that everest may have started to tell you about that one though....

I think you did the right thing Trinity, when running long distances it's essential to take on fluids/gels and a short walk ensures that you can refuel correctly. Your 52 mile experience sounds interesting... my thread is here!
