Here's a bit of advice from a reborn old timer.

Soak your feet in a weak solution of potassium permangenate. Frequently use something like Body shop peppermint foot lotion and worry ye not about thy socks, apply vaseline and massage it in well before a run. Blisters are usually caused by friction. Thus with vaseline even if your shoes are ill fitting there won't be a friction element. We used to use vaseline for "joggers tit" as well in the olden days.

i have a few suggestions from the others the nike socks and a few others it looks like i am off sock shopping i will keep my fingers crossed and hope it works i appreciate all your help thanks

you could always try no socks i don't run in socks and so far have not had a single blister.

i only shop at tesco ! i am going to buy some nike crew socks and try vasaline etc thank you for your help i appreciate it

hi its better to join in late than never i will try those socks as far as the compeeds go the guy in the running shop showed me how to put them on but thanks for checking i am blonde after all lol

i have tried to let them heal but i am too keen to start training again this is what happened last year when i did the great north run i ended up not as fit as i wanted to be because of waiting fotr blisters to heal i know it makes sence i am going to try the socks that people are recomending and also try the vasaline and the talc i will try anything now thank you for your advise i appreciate it

i am so pleased i am getting loads of advise im not sure what to do first buy socks or vasaline or talc i am going to experiment this week thank you for all your advise i feel silly i havent tried vasaline and talc earlier thanks

Vaseline OR talc. I wouldn't try both, unless you want shoes full of dough!

Hey, what about Vaseline on one foot and talc on the other?

ye i think i will try vaseline tomorrow and talc the day after i have given myself the night off it is my birthday afterall 21 again lol

tried the vaseline and ran 6 miles felt ok when i was running but when i have got home the area where the blisters have been is still sore but they hadnt healed 100% so i wont give up yet i am going to train the rest of the week using vaseline and try the socks that people have mentioned when i have been shopping at the weekend thanks
