I found this sight when trying to resolve my ongoing shin splints, and was delighted to note how friendly it is!

The Scottish Gas 5k & 10k in Edinburgh is always an option for the future. We ran last year and will be again this year. It's a great run!

Whats the dates for the Edinburgh races?

Sunday 3rd August. It's a good flat road race, with the exception of the last 700-800m which is up a very steep hill!

Hi Owain and other Edinburgh runners, I usually run around Arthurs seat but am a bit fed up with the hill and am running around inverleith at the moment, trying to work out how to get over to the water of leith as the path near me is blocked. I would certainly be up for some evening runs although am perhaps not very fast.

I have a form for the Scottish Gas 10K which I keep meaning to post as the online entry doesn't work. Hope it's not full

Go for it! It won't be full. Last year they were still taking registrations on the morning of race for both 5k & 10k. Being a 'burgh boy you'll probably know the route - it's lovely & flat with the exception of that hill, but if you don't look directly at it you'll be ok

So do we have enough people interested in the Loch Ness 10k to make it a date in the calander or would others prefer a different race?

Unfortunately I am on hols for Loch Ness run - but will watch this site for more info with regards a possible meet.

Can we have some suggestions for a meet.

So far there is the

Loch Ness 10k
Jedburgh 1/2 Marathon

Anything else, the more suggestions we have then we can have a poll to see which might be the best option.

Would like a meet but not really sure on a race. Still a little self concious on that, folk waving and cheering etc.

I wouldnt worry to much about being self concious, Im by no means the slimmest runner in the races but I plod on by.
When you feel ready for a meet at a race, just shout and you will be more than welcome to join us!
If you don't want to run you could be one of the RF supporters

I don't have much of an accent because I grew up in the hotel trade so never got a chance to pick my local accent up, my 2 younger brothers however have a really strong island accent.
