Garmin forerunner 305

Hi all
I was wondering if the garmin forerunner is any good indoors... I ll be using it to for running but i'm thinking of sharing it with my husband who doesnt run much but cycles and plays badminton and football alot.. would it be any good indoors... would it be able to register heart rate and calorie burnt????

It'll work as a Heart Rate monitor, but I believe it works out calories based on distance travelled, and from that point of view it'll depend purely on whether it can get a GPS signal, even then I don't think it'd be very accurate/useful!

Another drawback is that you'd have to set it up eachtime you use it for each persons height/weight/age/sex... he'd be better off just getting a cheap as chips Heart rate monitor, which would measure the heart rate and not be half as bulky as the 305 (which would probably be at risk of getting damaged while playing football!). You can then just find a website to work out calories used playing various sports... Job done.
