Stu,

£100?! That's a great deal. I have been shopping around online and can't find a 301 for that price. I'm hesitant to buy from ebay because I hear the warranty isn't valid. I'll keep looking.

I love mine too!

If anyone uses a 301, Fetch, Gmap Pedometer, Windows XP and IE then I've written a toolbar that allows you to:
- link up your Garmin to Fetch in order to log training runs...
- link up your Garmin to Gmap Pedometer in order to share routes...

More info is on http://www.hollybar.blogspot.com/ if you are interested!

Hi All,

My partner bought me a Garmin 201 for Easter (well, I'm on a diet and didn't want chocolate, so this was the next best thing)!

It is great! I know that I have not used it to its full potential yet but I found it really useful particularly when doing races. I am one of those that always starts too fast and then run out of fuel before the finish, but I have found that with my Garmin I pace myself so much better and can actually finish strong now.

You definitely should get one.

I've got a Garmin 301. Brilliant to know the pace you're moving along at in runs and although I have yet to use the HR function to it's full capability it seems reasonable. If you want to be very methodical about your training then it's certainly the best way of measuring I think you can get aside from actually running on the track, or at least definitely the most practical.

Hollywood- sounds like a great idea, I'll have to have a look at that.

I would be lost without my 201. Working away from home, and training on my own is when it really comes into it's own, particularly for interval training. Tempo running with the virtual partner as well, is superb.

Only flaws are (and this is dependant on where I am) satellite lock, it takes ages, and loss of lock when under trees or around tall buildings. It is really annoying when you are under trees for some time and the GPS switches off for the remainder of the run. Having said that, if it does switch off, I use gmap-pedometer.com for plotting my routes.

I would be interested to hear views on the new 205/305s. On the RW forum there is a few people having problems with them.

I don't know about the new Garmins, but i just bought a 301, and I love it. I mostly use it to monitor my heart rate (my doctor is happy about that) but I also love how it helps me keep a steady pace. I found a good deal (£140) on a site that I've never heard of http://www.youpriceit.co.uk but I'm really happy with how they handled my order, so I'd recommend them.

I'd like to start using the GPS function to get full use out of my new toy, so I'll be back for more help on that later.
