my half marathon training is going awry

Forest of Dean half at the end of March. Did it last year in a fairly unspectacular time, to achieve the same this year would be great.

I started my training in January with the aim of building a base of 5 mile runs two to three times a week which I could build up by a mile a week until late March.

January has come and gone with plenty of snow and a few bouts of head cold, I have my five mile base fitness but no more.

My plans to get out for a long run this week were defeated by the usual cold and now the weather is just grim.

I quite enjoyed the training this year but I sooo struggling to get going. Oh well. But I can still do this one, right?

Yes you can do it, I know the weather has been dreadful but hopefully that is behind us now so just get your head down and up those miles, even if you managed 2 runs of 5-6 miles and a 10 mile you would be ok. Have faith in your running and you will finish your Half.

if its a problem running outdoors use a treadmill not as good as outdoors but better than nothing do @ least three 10 mile plus runs ,cos the last 3 miles can be the toughest sure you know that.the end of march gives you time . good luck
