My first L/S/R over 10k

For the first time today I managed to actually go further than 5 or 10k distance that I normally stick to.
I managed 18k (11.2 miles) then walked a further 1k (cool down) home by this time my calfs were aching but the hamstrings were fine. I attempted to run the whole distance at a steady comfy pace but this time followed the heart rate moniter instead of pace time was hoping to keep within the 160/170 zone regardless of pace.

Thats awesome! You totally smashed your normal mileage. Well done! I've never done any more than just over 10k, how did it feel to run so much farther? Was it easier than you thought or did it feel like a struggle?

I knew I couild run further at a slower pace but just wanted to roughly know how far without pushing too much. I think the walk home did me good too as by the time I got home I could walk normally Shame we had a 1hr 30 min drive to the coast after as it took me almost 10 minutes to get out of the car But I did manage to drive back ok
Will see how the old legs are in the morning but as for tonite i'm treating myself to a few Rum n Cokes

Great work Wino. If you can put one of those out each week, It will have a huge effect on your times. Enjoy the rest. Have a good stretch, I'm sure you'll feel good in the morning. Your legs will find it much easier....next week?
