Well, I don't think it is one or the other. Eventually, to improve times, you need a bit of both

You'll be pleased to hear that I actually went for a proper slow 11 mile run today. Well, it was a slow 10 mile run, but by the last mile I was bored with the slow pace and threw in a 6:09 last mile But I did a nice easy jog for the rest of it! It actually felt nice to take it easy. Mind you, I had to find a bush to pee in half way. That's never happened to me before.

the pee is because a slow run keeps you out longer.

I contradict myself as I pushed for the 2 hour barrier and ran 10 mins at 7.5 mph today on the tready. But really speed is not always a driver, whereas I buzz on distance.

that's a bugger, with those long runs you are doing it should start to shift again. What are you aiming to get down to?

I will be happy at 14ish, ecstatic at 13.

A break from the beer should start it shifting. I know it is my downfall. So many empty calories.

Yup minimum of a month. I am starting to feel I have a habitual drink problem. I find excuses to buy beer because it is a Friday or Saturday and that is what you do.

I want to get to the stage where I am a social drinker who only partakes on special occasions.

The last beer I had is over a month and a half ago, hardly touch the stuff unless there is a good reason i.e. party so thats not the problem with me
