It's now my back

Well peeps aside from my dodgy knee which is getting no better, i was out on a short run today and my lower back and left buttock were really hurting my buttock feels bruised. I was feeling a little achey beforehand but wanted to try my knee out again knowing it would still be the same, even though i rested it last week except for saturday. I am wondering if the back and buttock pain are related to my knee whether i am compensating in some way or if its something else. It could be unrelated to running.

I am at the doc's on weds but am getting frustrated now especially with my knee as it doesn't seem to be shifting and my back right now while i am sat down is crippling me. Do you think maybe i just ain't meant to be a runner, it certainly feeling that way at the moment .

Hi Vonnie,

I'm just wondering what type of warming up you are doing before running, I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago with my lower back and I think it happened when I done some streches before a run incorrectly...

To be honest i don't really do stretches, i walk for a minute then build up into a slow jog before getting into a proper pace. I know i should do stretches really.

I think you are probably running with an imbalance to try and compensate for the knee. This can lead to throwing other things out and is why I get to a point where I knock the running on the head when my back is bad.

Be patient and let the knee heal.

I agree with Giles. Have you seen a physio Vonnie? I know it's frustrating but maybe another week of rest? Have you been putting ice on your knee or heat? When i went to physio she gave me a list of stretches/exercises to do.
