Unhappy Loss of energy and strength

I have done a few races this year including Robin Hood Half etc.
I thought at the end of the year I would run the HellRunner at Delamere forest for a bit of fun.
The problem that I have got is that it has been over two weeks since the event and I am unable to train. I seem to have lost all my energy and motivation since the event. My usual training consisted of three runs per week varying from 5K upto Half Marathon distance plus two swim sessions and one 40K road bike session.
Its not that I am in any pain or anything, it is just that I do not seem to have the energy and if I force myself out for a run I struggle to maintain a good pace or flow.
Has anyone else suffered with this problem and if so any idea what is behind it and how to get rid of it?

From experience (after my marathon) it is not uncommon to get post race blues. Especially if you saw this as your last race of the year. Suddenly you have no goal to aim for.

Why not take a week completely off and when you get back out just run as you feel. No goal, no watch, no pressure. I did this and rediscovered the joy of just running. Now I am back on track and have just started training with a goal, my next marathon

Post-marathon depression is very common and I I don't know why not more often talked about.
You have a big goal that takes a lot of your time and dedication for 2 or 3 months and then...? It's over... And you can't even start training for the next one if you went all out because you need to recover...
As for energy, if the recovery period has passed and you still feel weak, then there may be an underlying health issue.

Motivation? - Like Hrun wrote, rest and then aiming for a new goal will do it.

Energy? - When was the last race? And how many miles? This, I think, may be standing between you and the motivation.

Giles and Fulmar have made some good points regarding goals and mileage having an impact. I've experienced the same thing after Berlin - suddenly my last goal of the year was gone and I was a bit down for a few days. Fortunately, I'd already entered my next marathon, so had something to look forward to. Plus, the increased mileage this year has left me a bit knackered.

It might be a good idea to have a week or two of easy running, then look at picking a goal for early spring time. Also, some of the Xmas Santa Dash races might be a good short term goal.
