Jonp I think we are talking about the same thing in a different way.

Totally agree that movement is about body working with nature the way it was designed. Unfortunately many of our bodies are so affected by poor posture and faulty movement patterns derived from sedentary lifestlye that even changing the movement pattern there will still be asymetries in the body which will need specific exercise, stetches etc to correct.

Also agree with your description of running form - ie not striding out. Running barefoot will soon stop a runner striding out.

The main purpose of our muscles is to deal with the effects of gravity , ground reaction force and momentum which is exactly why they deteriorate in a non gravity environment.

Correct movement patters and listening to your body will ensure you never get injured again. However to re-establish correct movement patterns often takes some specific exercises to undo years and years of bad habits.

re barefoot running.. somthing daft like 19 of the worlds top twenty marrathon runers are african. and 15 out of those probably didnt have a pair of shoes till the age of 16..

if i talk about health or injury its always.. get to the gp/rhysio sooner rather than later.

but people will continue to talk about their good and hard times
