Running gives me back pain.
I've ran off and on for years, just to keep fit, cultimating in a half marathon in 2003 then had a few lapses.
This year I started again and entered the 'castle to castle'.
I was running 3 times a week between 2.5 and 5 miles when I experienced back pain. That's nothing new in itself as I do a lot of heavy and awkward lifting in my job but I also experienced pain in both hips.
I was unable to run the castles' and I stopped running for 2 months.
When I started again I Initially was doing 1.5 miles 3 times a week . I did this for a month with no probs.
I up'ed the mileage over 2 weeks, while off work, doing 2 and then 2.5 miles.
The back and hip pain has returned I can struggle to walk and can't stand straight when it's at it's worst.
I always stretch out after a run.
When I have the back pain I always have tight calves and very tight hamstrings.
I also do a bit of cycling but nothing competitive.
Apart from a visit to the vet's any suggestions?
