Hang in there Trinity, I'm sure you'll soon be back and running faster than ever as a result of a rest!

Nearly 4 months after injury struck I am finally allowed to start 'running' again.
I've kept up my daily exercises as prescribed by my physio and when I went to see him last week he said I could do 2 gentle miles at the weekend.

So I went out on Saturday and did 2 miles in over 19 minutes. On Sunday my muscles hurt so much it felt like I'd run 20, not 2 miles

I got so depressed, especially as the same weekend a year ago I ran a 52 mile ultra.

I guess it's going to be a long haul back

Good to have you back Trinity! Give it a few months and you'll be ready for those multi-marathons again

Hi Trinity,
I'm a new Beginner to this forum (and, of course, to running). I've found some of your posts on other threads, so find this one quite touching. I hope it's going well with your healing and running now. I'm sure you don't need telling, but taking it slow is a very good idea. I've recently come through an arthroscopy and partial menoscopy on my knee, and the relief of being pain-free, and of being able to do stuff again, is quite incredible. Hang in there!
Karen

Unhappy Torn Hamstring

hi well my worst injury is when I tore my hamstring completely during the middle of a competition...I am a sprinter...2 months later I was told since it didn't bruise that it wasn't ripped(even though it was later determined ripped by a professional) it was evaluated by a student in training for athletics...anyways the lady took me out and forced me to run..and i trusted her and I pulled it later...since then last december of 2007 I have not been able to fully sprint...and I just got to striding as of jan. 01...and sadly I pulled my other hamstring...do skip exercises to warm up...It is really hard b/c I'm depressed and I can't seem to get ahead and I'm a d-1 athlete..and I can't compete...and my coach is becoming impatient..and noone understands how competitive and serious this is to me...this has been tideous...I have done everything every rehab...and I seem to advance a little and then digress...I'm always in pain...it hurts to walk or do anything since my first tear...let alone on this recent pull

My worst is the one I have now and this is also a problem with my knee. I ran a 20 miler at the beginning of November. It ached but when at work a couple of days after whacked it on a metal post.
I have been to the doctors and all I get is painkillers and told to rest. Never even said if it was the run and or the accident at work.
Two months later it`s still there. Very much better but I now know how people feel when all they want to do is go out jst for a couple of miles or so.
I am hoping to go out in February, but thats my time scale so at the moment I`m out on the bike which does not seemto aggrevate it.

i am in the middle of mine - about 10 years ago my back started playing up due to the constant road running i was doing a lot of milage a week it got to the stage where i could not run and did not run for about 5 years. after years of intense chiro l was able to start running again on the treadmill and was able to do about 13km a day for about 6 mthsn - then the back went again. i have not run for one month and have been advised not to run again, however l am going to get a second opinion and when the pain goes away - could be years l will try again.

a few weeks after the great north run my metatarsals dropped slightly so they were causing pain when i ran as they were hitting down pretty hard!! caused a major bruise on the sole of the front of my foot... and after 1 year of on/off jogging and resting i found a doctor that knew what he was talking about and got special insoles made and they got me back training!! worst year of not being able to train properly

Reading all the posts makes me feel lucky to "only" have suffered shin splints.

It must be frustrating if you can't go out for a run at all.

I had a Tendocalcaneal Bursitis (still think it's there) I had it for 3 months, it was so sore I was limping for 2 months till I got ultrasound on it, and it worked a treat. Although I still get a stiffness when my ankle is cold there is no pain and no limping.
