Well, got home and went out for a 30mins run, thought I would take it easy since I have been out of action for a while.
Started off and felt a wee niggle in my knee but no pain in my left foot....happy days!
When I go for a run I tend to go out for 1/2 the allocated time then aim to get back home within the second half, I find this helps keep my pace and I push myself harder.
So 15mins out and I turn round, all pain in my legs has gone and Im feeling great, even chucked in some small inclines to see how I felt.....start picking up the pace and get home within 13mins Did a cool down and had a cool shower.
Looks like Im back out and running again!
Thanks to everyone who has offered support and advice during my first injury. Lets hope the next one is a long way off!

I just wanted a whinge without starting a new thread.
I haven't been out since last Tuesday because I have a pain in my ankle area. This is my first injury too.
It is my own stupid fault for buying running shoes online rather than having gait analysis, as I am a skint self-funded student.
 (woe is me, etc, etc).
I have pestered my other half into buying me some proper shoes this weekend. Luckily he understands how I feel not being able to train. I have been able to swim and have been lifting weights, but I am so frustrated not being able to run. But I reckon I should be OK to start my 1/2 marathon training plan in a couple of weeks time, so better that I have got this sorted out now rather than getting injured while I'm training for an event.

I know your pain! Annoying isnt it.
Hope your back out and training again soon, Ive actually come back from my injury stronger and Ive been out running a lot more than I did before it! I used to stick to 3 times a week running but now I go out more than that and its not for any training either, its because I missed it and really enjoy going out and trying to find new routes to run near my house.
All the best and remember the best cure for an injury is to rest it until its 100%, I was to tempted to head out when there was just a wee bit of pain left but Im glad I didnt otherwise I may have made it worse and spent more time not running!

awww star-shaped... I feel your pain! As Owain says though, if it's an injury causing you pain, wait for it to pass completely. I tried to come back to training too early and although the injury did eventually pass, it took a lot longer than it needed to!
Just so you know... you'd have been absolutely fine starting a new thread to have a whinge... that's what we're here for

Thanks for the replies.
Don't worry, I'm going to be taking it easy, although it will be frustrating not being able to try out my new shoes for a while once I get them tomorrow!
I'm going follow a slightly easier training plan that I would have done otherwise, seeing as I have been injured these couple of weeks rather than working on building up a good base. Annoying, but just one of those things.

You can walk in your trainers to start moulding them. Then they will be ready as you start up again. And you get to wear them

So the original plan was to have gait analysis done and get my new shoes yesterday.
My foot/ankle is a lot better, but I still can't run at all. Then it occurred to me yesterday morning- how will have my gait analysed if I can't run naturally?
I'm going to have to go next weekend now. I was sooooo dissapointed. Now I definately know I won't be alble to go out at least until Saturday, but it is probably for the best seeing as I am still quite sore.
Swimming it is then this week.
Sigh.

Yip, resting is the best option, no matter how annoying it is. Just think, once your injury free you will enjoy it even more

Second Injury!
I thought this morning I had caused a second injury, running for my train in to Edinburgh I jumped off the second step and landed on the outside of my foot and I went over on it! I heard a horrible cracking noise and felt the sharp pain shoot up my leg.....I managed to get the train but then started to wonder what I had just done!
By the time the train got in to Edinburgh my ankle felt great and there is no pain at all!
Its almost like it never happened.....just glad I didnt do something more serious to it and I have no idea what the cracking sound was!
