poor foot strike

Hi, During rugby off season I road run to maintain fitness. However I've always had a poor stride, landing on the middle, arch area of my foot. I try to correct this to land on my heel but i end up feeling like im pointing my toes up in the air!
Im very sporty, and have no other problems physicaly. Can anyone please advise how i can get a normal heel first foot strike? It results in my arches burning and becoming blistered within 3 to 5 miles.
many thanks, steve, wales

A lot of runners spend a lot of time training to stop landing on their heels! It is thought (and possibly even proven) that landing mid- or front-foot protects from injuries as it puts far less strain on your legs (you get far less sudden deceleration).
So... if you land midfoot naturally, I'd be tempted to keep it that way...

0.00 miles this week
40.92 miles this year
I think this is the basis of Chi Running? I had a gait analysis today and I land on my mid-foot as well
