Shin Splints - Time to Recovery

After some of advice please guys and girls...

I started to suffer with shins splints just over a week ago (something I've never suffered with in all my years of running) with the pain gradually worsening with each run. I did the sensible thing yesterday and went and got my Gait analysed resulting in a nice new pair of Brookes Adrenaline 8 trainers; very nice they are too so couldn't wait to get out the box and give them a run this morning. Whilst the trainers felt good I ended up walking for over a mile and a bit because the pain in my shins was so bad and consequently am sitting here with an ice pack on the right one!

All that explained I have decided to rest up for the week to see if I can heal sufficently well enough to try again at the weekend. My concern is I have the Norwich Half looming for me at the end of the month and wonder if this is still too soon or should I give it longer? Any views or advice on treatment appreciated please

Rest! You must allow yourself time to heal. Give it a week and then re-evaluate the situation.
