Well, you'll all be happy (or not) to know the gruesome details - I popped the blister and cleaned the area up (which also involved removing the loose skin...) and worse a plaster for a day, but it was annoying me, so took it off, and it's all 100% healed now, yay!

That's going further than my method... I don't usually take the loose skin off. I usually put loads of holes/slits in the skin to allow it to stay drained and dry out quicker, whilst still retaining a small amount of protection.

My question to all you blister sufferers is:-

Whats causing them in the first place?

Friction? Pressure? Blister Goblins?

I don't really get them that often; but I have had some really bad ones in the past. Once had a huge one on the back of a heel which burst when I was running. I felt the contents spray up the back of my calf!Attachment 221

I'd say it's definitely the blister goblins... causing friction. With their grubby lil evil hands of pain!

Lol, and to think people come onto this forum for sound advice with their running!

in all seriousness, it's a case of friction from your shoes/socks (or other clothing depending on where the blister is) rubbing repeatedly on the skin causing friction burns. As these friction burns happen the outer layer of skin separates from the inner layers and the space between fills with lovely lymph fluid - et voila! One nice juicy blister
