Thought so, but wanted confirmation before I get the yellow pages out and start ringing round.

i definitely wouldn't bother for a mild sprain...
if it's painful then take go to the pharmacay and buy ibuprofen gel or heat pads...
and another thing runners...
if you ever have inflammation of joints and need to take pain killers then take the right pain killers...
anti-inflammatory pain killers (e.g. ibuprofen / aspirin) are what you want...
don't take paracetamol or co-codamol as these are only pain killers and do not reduce inflammation...

Good advice, especially on the painkiller thing. I knew ibuprofen was an anti-inflammatory, didn’t know aspirin had the same effect. Paracetamol is quite a nasty pharmaceutical, I try and avoid it if I can.
I think in this instance I will seek out a physio, I’ve had some pain in the same calf muscle on and off for a while (started before I took up running). Hopefully I can get a diagnosis and enough advice from a single session to look after myself so the problem doesn’t return.
