Argh, all this sounds a bit scary and complicated. Last diet I tried when I was clinically obese was the british heart foundation - that was all about having a balanced diet - but portion control! These days I wouldn't say I diet at all, I just eat what I want, and thankfully most of what I want isn't bad for you. I guess I'm luckily that initially I lost a ton of weight through stress... so I've never really had to deal with this diet thing. The best way to lose weight is just to be realistic, control your portions, don't eat soot, and do some exercise... and don't worry and obsess over it!! That's probably the worst thing you could do.

Someone should have a word with that fat fighters woman... of course there's calories in dust!
When I indulge a little, people are often surprised and will comment things like "I'm surprised you'd eat something like that when you're so health conscious/a health freak!" and I will always reply with something, depending on my mood and the tone they address me with it could be anything from "ah well, i'll live" to "True, but I will run off the calories from this with half my run tonight, so I can quite happily eat it guilt free... if I didn't run and regularly ate this then yes, I'd become incredibly fat. Are you going for a run tonight?" (knowing full well they rarely exercise).
Agreed with you though Leece I have so much respect for anyone I see exercising, whether running out on the road or on the bike at the Gym - regardless of their size, shape or ability. Often it makes me want to go over and congratulate them for gettin out there and doing it - but how patronising would that sound?!?!

People have said to me, why do you want to lose weight or if i talk about weight, they say oh but your so tiny, and i say YES but i was not .... they assume cause you are thinner that you have never had a problem with weight or food.
I admire people wanting to change for the better, ONLY yourself can make the change, if 100 people tell you, you need to lose weight if you dont want too do it you wont... it has to come from within yourself......... oh i sound like a therapist now
I feel the same way as you Rich i feel like congratulating people or saying well done, but i agree it could sound patronising.

Yeah, respect for people who are actually doing something about their issues rather then just sitting on their arse moaning about it. Sometimes I see girls in the gym who are really slim and are walking on the treadmill for like 10 minutes, then go to the cycle and sit and leisurely cycle for 5 minutes, then off again to something - a complete waste of time!! But at least they're doing SOMETHING I guess. I'd much rather go for a walk in't peaks then on the treadmill! I suppose one time this girl was actually reading a magazine whilst walking on the treadmill...

She cant of been going that fast to be reading a magazine, i cant even see my ipod when i really walk fast.
I noticed some people go to the gym just to say they been there.
They dont even break out in one drip of sweat.
I go for 50 mins and i think i do more than them people who have been there for 2 hours.
I mean least they go but surely a bit of sweat is needed to a gym work out

Agreed...you've got to be putting some effort in to burn the calories.
No longer home alone....

indeed, to gain any real advantage from exercising you should break into a sweat, but still it's better to be moving in some shape or form rather than sitting down doing nothing.
It's often sitting down and doing nothing that contributes to eating too much and gaining weight. "Oh I'm bored... what shall I do, hmmm I need a biscuit or two"... ever seen anyone eating in the gym? lol.

Indeed something is better than nothing...but if you've made the effort to get to the gym why not then put in some real effort?

Lol well exactly!! Kind of recently I've started sweating like an absolute b***h! So there was me, running almost full-out for like 50 minutes, sweat going everywhere... in my fringe cuz I'd forgotten to take a hairband... having to wipe myself down with a towel every 5 minutes... and she's reading bloody closer!!! It's all a bit unfair... But then obviously I am getting lots of benefits so blah to those people.
It's good to do SOMETHING, but she probably burned more calories walking to and from the gym!
