They have 4 TVs in the gym upstairs and 5 downstairs... you can actually get them to change the channels if you try hard enough (ie flutter eyelashes)... but usually I have my MP3 player on to block out the crap music they play, failing that I just watch The Hits and get clued on new music... or they have E4 on which means scrubs friends and simpsons... it's awesome Makes running on a treadmill more barable.

At the gym i go Almost they got screens at every piece of equipment like running machines and cross trainers and bikes.... but around the gym they also got huge screens which are muted, BUT you can always bet football is showing. i seem to always watch the big screens rather than the small ones.

or wear music and dance to boogie wonderland.

Screens at every bit of equipment? FANCY! I suppose my gym is very well equipped for a students gym... but that's a bit crazy! TV is taking over everything... I suppose for a lot of people it makes exercise more barable in general, y'know for the people who are trying to get out of the habit of being lazy it can be difficult (i was one of those people once...) so it's not entirely bad.

yeah its a nice gym not too posey and you can hide out the way from other people cause they have lots of the same equipment, i generally hide upstairs out the way

Its a handy gym for me because its 0.3 miles from me so i just literally jump in the car (i could run i suppose) but i try and work out till the last minute so i can a good session in... then i rush back.

People at my work go gym and watch an entire football match whilst on x trainer... lol i could not i would get bored that long on one machine.

At least saying something supportive (while it probably would come across as patronising) would be better than the arrogant ****s who wandered past my treadmill last week and made some comment which I didn't hear all of but involved the word "slow" and was clearly something derogatory about me - they both looked my way at the same time. I'd actually managed to forget that until all this talk of gyms and encouragement. That's what you get for working (and thus exercising) in the City. A bunch of competitive men who just go to the gym to show off their muscles. Plus a gaggle of equally competitive women, but they are mostly in the classes so I'm spared them, except in the changing rooms.

I too have utter respect for anyone who's losing weight and/or increasing their fitness, no matter how they're doing it. I may have my disagreements with the programme they're using, but never, ever, anything against the people who are following it. I've finally worked out that more exercise and a more relaxed approach to just eating healthily is what works best for me. But equally, I know that for other people, something like Lighter Life is the only way they'd ever manage to lose weight.

Lots of respect to Leece and Richard too, for losing lots of weight and keeping it off

Thats why i hide out the way Bag at the gym because i feel Conscious of myself ... its a mind thing, no matter who would say but you look fine ... i feel better working out within my space... people do look about at the gym at other its natural but you should never get anyone whom takes the mick, next time when they are not looking put a 100kg weight on one side of there dumbell

Take no notice of the men whom said that, they clearly have more muscles than brains, and probably think with there D***s only..... Gyms are not just for perfectly formed people, and how did perfect formed people get that way in the first place,?? urrrghhh gyms, so take no notice and just say you wanna see anymore ???

Thanks for the praise Bag ((HUGS)) keep up good work.

Yeah, most of the trainers in my gym are in the american football team or something, thus there's always american football on *snore*... watching sports always makes me want to get up and do something, maybe they should make all the TVs have sports on them...

I must admit I did Lighter Life too. I lost it so fast and got below 9 stone but my head didn't catch up, IYSWIM. Years ago I was offered a gastric band. That did shock me as I was waiting to see one doctor about something and another passed by and suggested it completely out of the blue

The thing that made it hard for me to loose weight originally when my doctor told me I was obese was that she gave me a list of foods I should eat and foods I shouldn't eat - I felt incredibly patronised by this stick insect of a woman because i was eating the right foods... just way too much, thus why the british heart foundation diet helped for a while - but counting portions of food and you had to plan what you were gunna eat obviously to fit in with this... it was too much obsessing about food... the more you think about food, the more hungry you get... it's crap. But yeah... doctors can be a pain in the arse - i swear to god that I'd go in for something totally unrelated and they would bring it up - and be really patronising... it was no help at all.

That's always been one of my problems with it. How can you possibly get used to eating healthily to sustain the weight loss, if you haven't been eating at all?! Anyway, I mustn't start or I'll have a rant and probably end up upsetting someone entirely unintentionally
