Smile Own plan - Marathon

After my first marathon, for which I trained so hard and was such a big disappointment (timewise only), I have decided to make my own training plan for the next.
(I took the plan for the first from a Richard Nerurkar's book)
Has any of you, aiming for a PB, devised your own plan and strategies for a marathon?
Any tips?
