Yay, more questions!

1) are you using any energy gels on route ? if so which one's and how many?
No.

2) are you planning on walking any part of the route...even for a second or two to stretch out your hips/legs?
Not planning on it. Get it over and done as fast as possible .

3) what are you eating the evening before the marathon?
Probably pasta of some sort (not too much), whatever I can find around our hotel.

4)what are you eating for breakfast marathon morning?
Porridge and a bagel, I like the sound of nutella stirred in as well!!

5) are you going to wear the official red laces to help raise awareness of its charity
No

6) what day are you visiting the expo?
I'm not. Not got time, so my brother is picking my number up for me.

Stayed away from gels during training, instead been on the haribo diet!

2) are you planning on walking any part of the route...even for a second or two to stretch out your hips/legs?
Yes, most probably run walk at least half of it. Just because I am not ready for the marathon and training has been so bad!

3) what are you eating the evening before the marathon?
Not sure yet. Will have to work out what I'm eating for the 3-4 days beforehand

4)what are you eating for breakfast marathon morning?
Have been eating a bowl of ready break with honey during training, so going to have my usual.

5) are you going to wear the official red laces to help raise awareness of its charity?
no

6) what day are you visiting the expo?
Thursday

There you go.

It's awesome mate, my wife turned me on to it. Peanut butter too! She basically lived on porridge when she was losing weight for our wedding, so she tried every possible way of livening it up!

should be able to run but not for another week or so

At least you know Mark. Onward and upward. Rest up and let it clear off the chest and you'll be fine come vlm day.

Jeez, that is a bummer . Really hope the drugs fix you up in time. At least you'll be well rested for the start, you just need to fight the mental battle over the next week and be confident that the hard work has been done.

Cheers...i'll give those a try in the coming week. I normally just go with mixed fruit and maybe some golden syrup if I'm feeling adventurous. A whole new world of breakfasts .

Mark,

not the greatest news mate, but it's the best time to do no running, get yourself healthy and I've no doubt you'll still fly come race day.

Think I will just have to adjust my goals a bit, I was thinking sub 2:50 for a while there but now if I make the start line I think just to go sub 3 should be the target.

not a happy bunny to be honest, all I wanted was to hit one marathon in the best shape I could be and absolutely nail it, I thought this was the one especially as the weather is looking good and ive had no major injuries to deal with.

If I can start running on the weekend then I will feel better but as it stands I doubt I will run until next wed's or thurs and by then its too late to put any half decent run together.

Sorry to hear this, Mark. Like Stu, I still think you'll fly come race day. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

1) are you using any energy gels on route ? if so which one's and how many ?

Yes, use the High5 ones. Have to use them to keep my blood sugar levels up due to being diabetic but expect to only need to take 3-4 of them this time compared to the 9 I needed a couple of years ago to get round Dublin Marathon.
2) are you planning on walking any part of the route...even for a second or two to stretch out your hips/legs?

Not sure yet. I did walk through water stations on a partially off-road marathon in November so that I made sure I got the water into me and not trip myself up. I still got round in 3:05 so I think the time you loose isn't much of an issue and it ensures that you can stay hydrated, I also think it made it easier on the legs with even that short change of pace.
3) what are you eating the evening before the marathon?

Will find somewhere to serve me a big plate of pasta, then order another one.
4)what are you eating for breakfast marathon morning?

Will take some instant pasta along incase the hotel isn't serving breakfast early enough.
5) are you going to wear the official red laces to help raise awareness of its charity?

That's what they are for!
6) what day are you visiting the expo?

Will pick up my number as part of a flying visit on Thursday as I've to be elsewhere. If I've got time and can be bothered then I'll possibly have a wander round on the Saturday.
