did anyone run the manchester run ? how was it for a first marathon ? i am planning on appliying for the 2007 run as i think the flm will be to much for my first marathon

If you look on runnners world web site under events, enter greater manchester, past events - you will find loads of races the manchester. With descriptions ( flat, hilly etc.)

There is no definitive "Manchester Marathon". There is however, the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Half Marathon. I was under the impression that the BUPA Great North Run was in Manchester, but it appears to be in admin's back garden.

If the GMR is the run you are looking at doing it would be a good first timer, as this is a
10k (6.2 miles).
