Hi mate, October 09 I ran 34 40 or something like that, then went down to 33.30 in May 2010 then 32.42 in July, but that was on a slow course, reckon I was in sub 32 shape at the time.

That mile PB could have been sub 4 minutes if I could have run straight after my warm-up. I'd got my pace maker lined up (a guy who'd done 3.56 the year before) and got to the start rarin' to go. Then they decided there were too many runners for safety and split the race into two, numbers 1 to 45 in the first race and the rest in race race 2. I was number 46. By the time of the second race I'd gone off the boil a bit and lost my pace maker. Spit!
I'd lots of stamina so had no fear of marathons. I ran eight all together, winning my age category in seven of them. The one I lost was a bit iffy. The chap who won it didn't turn up at the prize-giving and I still suspect someone younger had run with his number. The guy who ran 2nd was subsequently barred from racing for two years for lying about his age.
I like your attitude Ross, a bit like mine, only more so! You'll go far. Good luck in all your races. Just think about what someone said, 'the harder I train, the luckier I get'!

    Hey there

I'd like to beat 2:45 in my next marathon, which will be at the end of the year sometime, will have to decide on my target time for London depending how well I do. I did 2.53 a couple of weeks ago an think it's achieavable

To be honest I didn't realise it was 3.10 to qualify for London, I had it in my head that it was 2:45 for automatic qualification, so was pretty please when I found out

How about you? Is your next marathon London?

Hi my name is Lyndon I have been running for 4 years I have had a couple of set backs mostly overtraining but im tackling that right now.My big aim at the moment is to hit a sub 17 minute 5km as this will help towards a sub 75 minute Half Marathon. You are a bit ahead of me and have done this so I wondered if you have any advice for me that you think has put you in good stead.
