I think 260 did it last year, max 400 places. Think I may do it but will sleep on it first!

I doubt it last year the last came in at 1:15 - you would beat a fair few!

At the moment I'm looking at logistics - don't drive so the further a race is the harder it is to get to (can't run there or I would have no energy left for the race!!!)

Train ride to Birchwood looks handy with the station just opposite the shopping place - so may do that one as well.

But the aches I am feeling this morning, I could do with just lying down for a bit

Lol, yeah you go and chill out Rob, take it easy. Wish I could each time I have to move off my chair here in work I moan and groan as my calves are stiff too.

God help me tonight when I go out for a run with club, bet my mate hasn’t even got a single ache too

Hi folks

Glad to hear everyone got round successfully

I've just got back from sunny Manchester - I finished in 51.33, which was way below my secret "best case scenario" pre-race predictions - so I'm still grinning inanely and boring friends and family senseless with my race report...

We reached half way in about 27.30 but my Dad was struggling with a calf injury so he told me to go on ahead of him. (I felt a bit guilty, but he got round in just over 55 minutes so it couldn't have been that bad...).

So I moved up a gear, (which was weird cos I wasn't aware that I had another gear) and managed to do the last 5 k in about 24 minutes. It was great finishing in the stadium it was almost like being a real athlete.

The race photos are up at:

Manchester 10k 2008

I just looked through 10,000 photos and can't find myself on a single one

Shame as I would probably have ordered mugs or table mats for early Christmas gifts

Can anyone else spot themselves?!

Edit, I looked thru a 1000 more pics and finally found a few!

Never! I do question the wisdom of taking most of the photographs while people were guzzling down water and gatorade at the drinks station - mine spilled all over me, that would have made a nice one for the album!

Lol, cool! My pics of me drinking gatorade are on page 186 - I remember I was already feeling pretty uncomfortable by that point, was pleased with myself that I kept going right to the end, but that's where sticking through the training runs paid off.

Congrats on your time - I might catch up one day
