Yorkshire/North East meet, any interest?
Post replies if anyone is interested. I am in Ripon so in reach of the North East, East/West/North Yorkshire. I'd be interested in finding a nice challenge run near a good pub, ideally with things for kids nearby so the whole family can come. Hopefully something ticks all the boxes and enough are interested.

sounds good, I am in a small village between york and doncaster so a run anywhere in yorkshire is accessible for me, I agree something for the family would be good

thanks for the response, see if anyone else posts one. not sure how many folks on here are from northern England, a lot of the main posters seem to be from down south or Scotland. We're certainly getting some good late weather now, making me want to make the most of it and do some interesting runs given time, which takes some juggling with family.

Well hopefully you guys get some more interest, if tehre's a reasonable number I may consider making the journey - though it's a bit of a trek, it'd certainly be worth it to see another bunch of forumites
Downside is though, not many people ever seem up for these things! The castle combe social seems to be pretty central to everyone who showed plenty of interest, yet so far there's 4 entries! (inc mine )

What about Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York in January? Application forms are available from next Saturday but you have to be very, very quick and get it sent of ASAP as it fills really fast.
here's the link. I'm hoping to do this one to keep my training up through winter.

a few more replies now, good to hear from you all. In reply to Rob a half marathon is a bit far for me right now, I'm not doing events longer than 10k at the minute. I wondered also about the 10k on December 27th called the Jolly Hog Jog and held at Fountains Abbey, so means families would be able to go to the playpark there. When I first suggested this I was thinking more of a get together with a run, rather than an event, but open to whatever.

I quite fancy this one- I bumped into a friend at a party who says it's a great race, plus it partly coincides with my old school X country route so I already know the terrain quite well. I'm currently doing up to 4 miles, three times a week, so I think this could definitely be something for me to work towards!

Is anyone else up for this? I know it's a difficult time of year for a lot of people, but could it have potential as a northern mini-social?

I don't think I can make that date, I'm usually doing Christmas family stuff on them days and tend to rest at home over that week. I did post my Brass Monkey half marathon application off this morning, though. I hope I get into that one. there's lots of other races around the north east area as well. has anybody seen this site? I'm on it constantly.

I'm glad you find it useful. I've been maintaining it for about 7 years. (I think it would be my specialist subject on "Mastermind"!) If you find any errors on the site or you find a race is missing, please let me know. Thanks.
