I like to think I eat a healthy, balanced diet, but just could not survive on fruit, veg and salad alone, even though they make up a decent chunk of my diet. My body would just not work properly.

My breakfast, which is nearly always consumed after my run, would consist of something like:

3 weetabix with skimmed milk
300 ml skimmed milk with 2 scoops whey protein + strawberry crusha.
1 or 2 bananas - dependent on size.
approx 30-40g of dark chocolate
cup of black coffee (no sugar)

This normally fires my metabolism up nicely for the day!

Crikey that is some breakfast, you eat all of that just for breakfast.

What must lunch and Dinner be like, don't get me wrong it's all good stuff.

Heh, sorry I'm a bit slow on this one, but SHREDDED! BIG bits of shreddy goodness hehehe.

I can't drink coffee first thing in the morning... I had a big cup today to get me through a research symposium, after not having any for a week... and... cripes, I've got the caffeine shakes lol, I'm runing around like a mad hatter - and this is after lunch that I thought might quench the effect aswell!! But yeah, to stay on topic - I like food, fullstop. But I find that all the "naughty" things, are best left to have very occasionally... they taste soooooooo much better that way! Although I do eat a few bits of dark chocolate after my runs... mmmm... BUT one thing I do worry about is my alcohol intake... I drink about a glass or two of wine a few nights a week... but i tend to drink quite a bit more at the weekends... it hasn't affected me thus far in terms of running I don't think... but I dunno... as my mileage and what not increases should i make a point to drink as much?

I've only had one evening of drinks so far in 2008 and I can't say I've noticed much in terms of changing my running performance. It's certainly helped my wallet though!

It's a pretty hard thing to measure too, gawd knows how much slower/heavier I'd be (if at all) if I'd been drinking all month. I absolutely hate the morning after though when I've overdone it, and I think that's partly what makes it easier to miss out

I'd much rather my 'naughty treats' be something sweet and/or sugary

To be honest, I've already realised that getting soooooooo drunk that you actually feel ill is not great for the day after... so I've learned how much I can drink, and at what pace, before it will affect the next day. Sometimes though... I can get a bit over-excited lol... but liver is still nice and young and still capable of cleaning me up so that I don't get hangovers. Think I've had maybe 2 in my entire life. But there are times when I drink so much I'm still drunk the next day... which on friday nights doesn't bode well for saturyda morning runs. But I try to organise myself so that I don't have to miss out on socialising. This week for example, I've made it so that my long run is on saturday morning, and on saturday evening I shall be attending a bday partay before attempting the fatal west st. pub crawl once again. Wish me luck heh.

Sounds about right to me Dave, a couple every night purely to aid with recovery and muscle building !!

Maybe look to increase it by no less that 10% a week , don't forget to have some apples as well!

Well... I shall attempt to limit myself anyways. But on days like today when I'm on a bit of a caffeine rush... well... what can I say? I'm a light-weight :P Speaking of light-weightedness... we're about to crack open some champagne in the office... so I'll see how that affects my lil gym sess this evening heh.
