blimey JBB! If I ran 30-45mins after eating then I'd feel terrible on my run! I aim to eat around 2 hours before running though it can be a little less. Though I'm not sure of the science behind it, When carbo loading I've often been told that it's more what you eat in teh days leading up to the race than the meal the evening before the race. I'm guessing this is to do with complex carbs being broken down to fill your glycogen stores? Obviously simple carbs inc energy gels etc have an effect on your body much more quickly!

Chocolate is also linked to better blood flow (helping the heart & blood pressure etc), though this is only the case with plain chocolate (above 70% cocoa content), and up to 3 squares a day.

Interestingly, cloudy apple juice supposedly has more anti-oxidants than any other fruit juice (including cranberry, blueberry etc...), I wonder if the same goes for cloudy cider? (in moderation of course) No such joy I'd imagine!
Re Chocolate: I read the other day that a definition of strength is to be able to break a chocolate bar into four pieces then only eat one.

Oh how weak I am
