Just out of curiorsity I wrote down what I'd eaten and found out how much it all added up to in terms of calorific intake... and I was quite surprised... I'd eaten about 1400 calories worth, and had a gym sess that burned 627 calories... so I burnt almost half of what I'd eaten... and being alive I burn around 2000 carlories a day... blimey. I ate exactly what the same as what I usually eat, but I didn't think I wasn't eating 2000 or more. Ah well. Maybe I can have some more chocolate now...

I'm not being critical; but does working in a scientific background lead you to be permanently analytical?... You know; facts and figures relating to everything you do in life?
I think I'm more inclined to inhabit that part of our planet known as "Blissful Ignorance!"
There's just so much stuff that I'd prefer not to know! (...about things relating to me, that is... other people interest me a great deal).

Lol... not really. I think I'm mid-brained, if that's possible. Like I said, I did it out of curiousity, I don't normally analyse my food (not anymore, anyway). Works out best this way anyway. But yeah, I'm capable of being analytical and logical enough when I need to be, and to stop myself being a completely hormal and out-of-control girl, but equally I am quite creative... and emotional and hormonal hahaha.

I had certainly been hungry a lot of the time, though just learnt to accept it feeling it was just part of dieting! I'm trying to make an effort to eat more and maintain a calorie defecit closer to 500-800kcals, I feel like I'm eating all the time now! lol. Have to say though I am loving it!

Though if I start getting fatter i'll blame you all

Richard,

You shouldn't be aiming to lose more than 2lbs a month. That is considered healthy weight loss. Anything more and you're not doing your body any favours, especially since you are already at an ok weight. I know you lose a lot more than 2lbs a month at first when you are really overweight, but your loss will be slow. The amount of calorie deficit your in is not good. You probably want a total calorie deficit of around 2000 a week, not 1000 a day. Although I'm not one for monitoring calories. If you want to lose weight, just keep your current exercise regime and cut out completely all saturated fats, most dairy products (especially cheese) and try to cut down on meat intake. Eat lots of vegetables, beans and rice. Always eat breakfast etc, and you will lose it eventually. It was easy for me to get down to 12 stone 4 lbs, but then the next 11 lbs took more than a year for me to lose. I'm 6" 1' and currently 11 stone 7 lbs. I don't actually watch what I eat too much, although it's mostly healthy. I just make sure I run at least 30 miles a week and that seems to keep my weight stable.

mmmmm, cheese!

Cheers for your reply JB, If i'm honest I eat very little dairy now! I'm a convert to that soya milk stuff, and only tend to have cheese occasionally in small amounts as toppings to meals.

I have to admit, reading back over this thread it makes me look like a proper weight obsessed person! I have to admit though, keeping a food diary has really opened my eyes. Thankfully it's not to hard to make sure I eat more though, heheh!

I want to lose weight but I suppose I'm a bit selfish in that I'm not really ready to cut out stuff I like. I'd rather just run more if possible.

I've stopped drinking mid-week (only drink on Friday and Saturday and occassionally Thursday now). I've stopped eating chocolate apart from one chocolate I treat myself to after my tea. Apart from that everything is the same.

After saying all that though the weight isn't exactly dropping off me despite me getting fitter and running further...

I think a food diary would be a good exercise just for a week or so but I also think its very easy to get too self-obsessed with food... as Pedestrian says, ignorance is bliss..
