Can’t really comment on sports drinks for running; having just returned to running I only run for about 30 mins so don’t need to take a drink with me. After my run I need a cup of loose leaf Yorkshire tea, milk no sugar. However, I take a drink of water with me when swimming to sip between sets. Usually clock up between 2 and 3k in an hour and need to replace the fluid. I find if I drink anything other than water it tends to repeat on me when tumble turning. When I eventually up my running distance/time I think that I will take water with me.

Does anyone just rely on water and a balanced diet or is it a must to go all scientific with the energy drinks and gels?
