Marmite...
...I've started eating it. I'm still indifferent
Plenty of protein in it though, good on a bit of toast post-workout with a glass of milk.
I've read that it's high in salt - no biggy, I'm a heavy sweater (Ewww), my intake of processed foods is nil and I don't even add salt to boiling veg.
Folic acid and Vit B is high so shall avoid being bitten by midges whilst camping
Have I missed anything else that makes up for its questionable effect on my tastebuds?

Vegemite's better (I was married to an Australian so indoctrinated to preferring Vegemite over Marmite - but it really is nicer)

I've tried it several times before, trying it again as a alternative to jams/PB's/soft cheeses on toast. Technically an appetite suppressant - can't bring myself to have it on two pieces of toast lol

Love it. Never tried with peanut butter though, nice with cheese. Not sure it keeps the midges away, not for me anyway. As for the vegemite/marmite debate I think promite is the nicest : ) yum, haven't tasted it in years. My mission for tonight is see if I can find some in this country.

It's the thiamin/Vit B1 which apparently they hate the smell of - http://www.highland-midge.co.uk/midg...lant-patch.htm - the patches make you smell of breakfast cereal
I think you'd have to eat a great deal of Marmite though, far more than I'd be willing to in one sitting!

I have heard it is very good for this but I would rather used jungle formula. Can't stomach it

I LOVE Marmite, keep with it Colin, it really is an acquired taste, but you soon get hooked Its ace on crumpets, and goes ace with cheese as Battleaxe mentioned
For a taste sensation you have to try it in a mini cheddar triple decker lol I heard about this on Absolute radio and it sounds gross but its gorgeous..... mini cheddar/marmite/mini cheddar/strawberry jam/mini cheddar. MmmmmmMMMMMmmmmmm Go on, I double dare ya!!

I drink it (7g mixed in a mug of boiling water gives you about a quarter of your daily sodium requirement) - lovely and full of B12, Folic Acid and Chromium - all of which I lack as a vegan. And the protein fills me up so it's like a meal replacement for less than 20 calories

Having read this thread earlier this morning I had to try this out for myself and was pleasantly surprised, it's a winning combo, a taste-bud explosion.
I use 100% natural peanut butter which I love, I also love Marmite, so why not put them together
