stick it into an excel chart and plot a scatter graph.. at least that way you will see trends over time and then eventurally do a standard deviation line

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, lol... but that's a bloody good idea and I've no idea why I haven't done it any sooner!!! I did keep a record of weight for a while - but it's all about the graph! Good call Beasty - I shall start with any updates I've put into this thread

but as mentioned many times before.. body weight changes on a day by day basis.. even by drinking the recommended 2ltrs of water a day will add 2kg to your weight..

I may have missed a bit of the banana discussion, but are you still eating as many? I was reading the other day that bananas produce ethanol (thats why you use them to ripen other fruit) and they make you bloated and extra gassy. Certainly I've been less windy since switching to apples. Not sure it will affect your weight but who knows?

I've cut down loads on bananas from 2-3 a day to probably one every other day. I have been losing weight more consistently but I feel it would be naive to assume this was owing to the banana switch. It may have contributed, but I generally feel I'm eating less now and paying more attention to what I eat, particularly between meals.

I spotted that, but thought it best not to comment. lol.
12st 4lb this morning - staying fairly steady around this weight now, hoping not to gain too much over the next couple of days whilst I load up on carbs to get the glycogen stores full ready for Sunday - I should be a few lbs lighter than my last half though which I've no doubt will help.

I am by no means an expert - but somewhere I read that because the week up to a race, runners tend to taper.. that if they 'carb load' it can make them bloated (if they go carb crazy) - because they are not 'running it off' as they would normally. This confuses me as I don't know when 'carb loading' starts - so as to be the most efficient?

I guess it depends what distance you're running - my thoughts would be that for a 10k, you don't really need to carbo load since you're almost certainly not going to deplete your muscles' glycogen stores, perhaps slightly less protein and more carbs the day before the race if anything.
For a Half' I tend to just increase complex carbs in the couple of days before the race and then have a white pasta dish the night before the race.
For Marathon training, I'm not sure as you should really need to go crazy with the carbs any more than normal - in that your training schedule is likely to be quite demanding so you should be eating a lot of carbs anyway... in the taper for a marathon I think I'd probably maintain the same (fairly high) level of carb intake and just cut the mileage.
I think 'traditional' carbo loading involves a period of cutting out carbs to deplete the body of them before eating a large amount of carbs, resulting in the body storing more as glycogen than it is normally capable of - though I'm not too familiar with that method.
Of course avoiding all possible fatty foods (until after the race at least )

not sure why... I read somewhere about eating a more simple form of carb the night before a race. I'm sure it helps me avoid the trots on race morning too
