If you raise your blood alcohol level high enough, the bugs will be unable to survive

Only problem is, your own cells die off at a much lower level

I'm really impressed with people who can drink and jog. If I drink (and belive me I am nothing of a heavy drinker) I am not able to run the next day.
But always interesting to hear everyones little remedies.

It really isn't a good idea to run if you have, or are beginning to get, cold or flu. Running can lower the immune system so it can take longer to fight off the virus. You are probably also more prone to injury if running when not fit. Best thing to do is just lay off the exercise, eat well and drink plenty of water then come back fighting fit. Fortunately, I seem to be one of those freaks that rarely gets colds. I get a 24 hour sniffle once ever 2 or 3 years. Never had a full blown cold, flu or chest infection, which is surprising since I used to smoke 20 cigs a day.

This is true... providing you are training to international standard, placing your body under maximum stress by ploughing through 100+ miles a week, running twice a day, with a couple of hard interval sessions thrown into the mix.

Does anyone here train like that?

Illness can certainly limit what you can do... But should rarely stop you altogether.
It will always come down to personal choice in the end.

Few years ago i seemed to always suffer from the cold throughout the winter. i started to take on much more fruit and have apple and orange a day now. Now i suffer from the cold far less than before. Its also good to keep your iron intake up and make sure you get the odd bit of red meat (obviously not if your a vegetarian) or things like turnip which have a lot of iron.

I say change diet 1st then look at alternatives.

i totally agree it's important to sort out the basics first. I do have a good balanced diet and have been getting more fruit in there since i found out a bit more about the black elderberry supplement i was taking and found that the fruit is one of the top antioxidants so hopefully it'll help.
I dont think i'd catch half as many colds if i didn't work in an air conditioned office!

I used the supermarket brand vitamins but gave up on that when it made absolutely no difference! apart from the cod liver oil which is erally good for joints, but again, if you eat oily fish (which i hate) you get that anyway.

All been good tips so far, thanks!

1000mg effervescent vitamin C
15mg Iron
1 x Seven Seas Joint Care capsule (contains a whole bunch of stuff including; Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Omega-3...)
Never had a "healthy" diet (no fruit and no veg.) But then again, whatever I have eaten has worked well enough so far... I would never have been able to train the way I have done over the years if I wasn't adequately fuelled.
