Thanks for the tip. I think we're actually going to visit the inappropriately named Kinghorn in Fife. Neither of has been and it looks quite nice.

St Andrews is in the Kingdom of Fife
Fife is a big place. There are some nice spots but there are also some not so nice spots I live in Inverkeithing, which is really just a communters town to Edinburgh, but is in the kingdom of fife as well and probably one of the places you are best to drive straight past.

This dating is scary stuff, but I guess worse things happen at sea.

Hi there JBBury,
This happened to me when i split with my ex whom i was with for 14 years.
When i used to go out with friends i used to worry about getting chatted up etc, some men said i give off a glare to say DONT YOU DARE COME NEAR ME !!! i was not aware i did this
So i fully understand how you feel or felt.
I know a few people who have met there partners through Match

Well, I'm not really into chatting up women in bars and clubs, so things like this are the only real chance to meet people, especially since most of my friends are in relationships and only know people in relationships. Anyway, I seem to be having success now with match.com. I'll let you know if the success continues after the weekend

Update: My date went really well. We had a nice meal, a few cocktails at the jazz bar, then went to quiet bar for a nightcap, where I made my move and it was reciprocated Couldn't have been a nicer evening. She is coming over to mine at 11.30 today and we will take a day trip to fife

Really glad it's going ok! Have you thought that she may read this thread, she may not like it? I know I sound pessimistic, think it's just how my female mind works.

I doubt she would visit a running forum, and I haven't identified myself, but I take your point. I think I will be a gentleman from now on and not reveal anymore

Fife was disappointing. the weather wasn't great, but the worst part was the inability to find anywhere decent to eat. All I wanted was some good fish and chips, since Fife is meant to be famous for it, but couldn't get any. We drove all the way up the coast (almost to St Andrews) and ended up having to eat an average meal at a hotel. It's such a shame. There is all this beautuful coast, and no decent seafood restaurants. All the towns seemed dead and there were just crappy shops and dodgy pub food. Fife is crying out for amazing promenades with great fresh seafood restuarants and cafes. I don't know why they don't develop it. I don't know, maybe I just just driving in the wrong parts. But the journey was still fun, so it was a good day.
