Royal Marine Commando's are the UK's elite force, and known across the world for the selection process.

It is known for the longest and hardest basic training in any Nato force.

They are the only Nato force who hold a Commando status as standard

Is the SBS selection not harder than the Marines??? The Marines would seem difficult as it is taking boys off the street and trying to turn them into fighting soldiers. SAS and SBS take already excellent soldiers and turns them into the worlds most elite fighting forces.

SBS is recruited directly from the Royal Marines, its a specialisation like Sniper, Driver etc. Its called "Swimmer Canoeist" granted you have to do SF selection, but its so close to Royal Marines, they recruit directly as a matter of course, just like the would pick a chef. SF is no biggy to Marines, uts almost expected you try for SF selection.

No other UK force enjoy's that priviledge

Also marines dont just take lads of the street, the selection is rather elite. Physcometric Exams, Interviews etc etc etc. None of which any UK force have.

I am astonished people actually find it funny.
Giving people drugs time and time again without any real reason or explanation of the long term risks....

Sounds like GPs to me....

I certainly don't advocate drug use, but that is one of the worst statements I have read on this forum to date...

uhm, worst in what way exactly? All I said is I don't give a shit if recreational drug users want to posion themselves because they think it's cool to get high. You disagree that people who get high think it's cool? Why else would they do it?

As for Marines or any other branch of the UK army being "the most highly trained" etc, that's just the crap they continue to state because of feelings of inadequacy that the UK is no longer a superpower. There are plently of highly trained soldiers from many different countries; many of them far better trained than UK soldiers.

Most of these other countries soldiers have been trained by UK forces or their officers have been trained in the UK. The one major stumbling block the UK military suffers is an inadequate lack of funding and resources. As far as the personnel they are superior but the equipment or lack thereof handicaps them from reaching the full potential of our armed forces.

Also just a quick note, the ROYAL MARINE COMMANDOS are not part of the army.

I am guessing this is a subject you have zero experience with other than what you read in "The Daily Mail"?

Well, I lived in a house of drugged up losers when I was an undergrad in Manchester, and they all thought it was pretty cool to get high. So, what the fuck ever.
