Dilemma: How to spend £700
Ok, I recently negotiated a new mortgage deal with my bank, and the way the new deal has been set up means that my first payment isn't due until the end of August, so I have a month with no mortage payment to make. This gives me an unexpected extra £700 disposable income when I get paid on Monday. My dilemma is what to do with it. Here are my options:
1) Pay off a big chunk of the £1800 credit card debt I have (which is on 0% interest until November, so it's not that big a deal). This is the sensible option.
2) Buy a playstation 3 to keep my xbox 360 and wii company.
3) save it for an emergency/rainy day.
4) Take a holiday.
5) Buy a Garmin 405
6) go buy lots of clothes. I already have an obscene amount of clothes (3 big wardrobes full), but I love clothes and always enjoy new threads.
What would you do?

I'd do 1 because I don't like being in debt, and because the 3 months you have at 0% isn't long, and interest sucks.
Once that's paid you'll be able to get the other things and it'll all work out cheaper.
There is an option 7. Charity. Depending if you can afford it/believe in helping charities etc.

Buy the Garmin and pay 500 quid off the credit card. Best of both worlds.

Then I switch the balance to another card on 0% interest
I may have to buy the Garmin. It might motivate me to start running fast again and break some PBs, which I haven't done for a while. How much is the 405, and is it that much better than the 305, which everyone was raging about last year?

get a PS3 and blow the rest on clothes or have luxury weekend break. Let the credit card people wait for their money.

I only just bought my xbox and wii a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not ready to sell them :P And I love my clothes. I won't sell them. I refuse. If I did get rid of some, I would give them to charity in any case.

Personally if I didn't have a Garmin atm, based purely on the knowledge I currently have I'd still probably go for the 305 due to its functionality... the touch sensitive thing on the 405 doesn't appeal to me, especially when I'm running, and no idea how it'd cope when it's pee'ing it down with rain... The seemingly bigger display on the 305 appeals to me more as well.
I guess it depends if the aesthetic improvements on the 405 are more important to you

Just looked on Amazon. The 305 is a lot cheaper, and to be honest I'm not bothered about aesthetics and new fancy features. As long as it can accurately map my mileage and pace, that is the main thing for me. So if I do go for a Garmin, I think I would go for the 305. I remember it seemed to get very good reviews.

Being the proud new owner of a 305, I have to say it is a damn fine piece of kit, and if you were thinking of getting one then would definately recommend it.
