F1 - Belgian GP

Any F1 fans out there in RF World?

Yesterday's race was fantastic to watch and in my opinion, exactly as F1 should be

That was of course, until the voices from above seem to have decided that hamilton couldn't possibly have fairly beaten a ferrari, and must've cheated.

Absolute joke - I'd heard at the end of the GP that the incident was under review, but knew that no way could they reasonably say any breach of the rules had occurred so I left it at that. Driving into work this morning I heard the news that they felt he'd gaining an unfair advantage by cutting the corner?!

He didn't cut the corner? He was forced off the track by Raikonnen, and even then he allowed Raikonnen back past him?

Fuming.

Not an F1 fan myself...but maybe they want more crashes....seems to be the implication.

AWWW Richard...i was absolutely gutted for him & McLaren, i watched all of the F1 all way through and i agree it was so unfair he never cheated one bit... he drove like a true professional and new that the rain would give him a fair advantage... i was shouting at the TV for Lewis.... to overtake but dont too fast as i was sure he would also spin off etc... i was so glad when he won... i thought when they said he was under investigation that he would only get a penalty of points, never his position taken away... Massa was under investigation last race for the pit lane scenario and they never got nothing...

I read also on the F1 site that Ferrari had gone to the stewards and reported that Kimi should of won because he had led 97% of the race...

Even if he never got pushed out the way from Kimi he would of still won, because Kimi cannot handle the rain.

McLaren are appealing lets hope its overuled...

I bet Lewis was spitting venom last night.

I am outraged by the whole sorry episode. The FIA, or 'Ferrari International Assistance' as I will now call it, should be ashamed of itself. Maybe they should scrap the podium celebrations altogether, and just let the Stewards announce a few hours later who they think won the race. Formula 1 appears to be getting popular once again, after years of going downhill. If they don't sort this kind of crap out, they will lose viewers again.

I agree JB..... i thought the exact same.

I am marshalling on sunday perhaps i just randomly select a runner as winner, not because he won it fair and square.

I certainly hope McLaren's appeal comes to something, though I won't hold my breath

I don;t physically understand what Hamilton could've done in that situation??? If he'd not cut the corner he'd probably have been penalised for causing an avoidable collision

Spot on with your post JBBury. 'Ferrari International Assistance' indeed!

Your right too Leece, had the incident not happened, I'm confident Lewis would still have won... Kimi crashed through his own fault, nothing else - if there was any damage to his front wing, it was for no reason other than that he shunted into the back of Hamilton anyway! EVEN if he'd been given a drive through penalty, that would've pressurised Massa into driving harder, and we all know what happens when Massa tries to drive quickly in the rain! *cough*Silverstone*cough*

Every other driver would of done the same in Lewis's situation.

Massa did not deserve to come 3rd let alone 1st !!! and he knows it.

And what would of happened if KIMI would of caused damaged to Lewis's car by shunting it from behind, is that not unfair.......... this makes me and has made me mad from last night hearing the verdict...

But i promise to get off my soapbox now, if i could of expressed my opinion to FIA last night i would of

KIMI needs to get a personality uplift anyway... tight lipped FIn!!!!

I agree with what you guys are saying the FIA seems so biased against McClaren it is frightening. Ron Dennis must be raging. Had Hamilton not given Kimi his place beck then yes understandable a punishment should have been issued but to totally rearrange the finishing results after Kimi getting back his place and then not being able to control his car is tantamount to cheating. How on earth did they figure to give Hamilton a third??

It's always been the same with F1, I used to follow the sport quite closely about 10 years ago and back then the FIA seemed to let Michael Schumacher and Ferrari get away with anything in order to win pretty much every race. I think the only time he didnt was when he stalled at the start of the Japanese GP one year and ended up having to start from the back. I remember laughing at the screen then being gob smacked when he managed to get back up to 3rd place before his tyre blew.

These days I find the whole sport pretty dull

You are right there Lizzy but there are still some great moments to be had like last year can't remember where it was but it was the race where Hamiltons car stopped working for a wee bit then he came right back into it including one of the best overtaking moves I have ever seen against Barrechelo at the end of the start finish straight. But for real racing and sorting the men from the boys a race in the rain can't be beaten for action and thrills

That is true, the rain can make a race sometimes. The Belgian GP in 1998 was excellent. Half the field crashed out at the first corner and then towards the end in near zero visibility Coulthard went into the back of Schumacher taking them both out. Afterwards Schumi tried to get revenge on Coulthard by decking him but sadly the pit crew held him back!
