17/9/08 Question

In advance of the soon to be upon us Ryder Cup the question has to be....

....does golf ruin a good walk?

Or, if you prefer....

...will GB/Europe succeed yet again?

Golf is not for me.

I can see that it'd be fun to play; but i can't understand people watching it

I feel the same about most sports!!

Crazy golf is fun - especially if there is a pirate/treasure theme! Otherwise its pants... unless you are a tycoon/director and you just want an excuse for a 'day off' and you are making big business deals and gossiping with other tycoons/director type folk, whilst wizzing round a course on a buggy.

I haven't Steve:

a) They wont let me on a golf course - I keep hacking up the grass!
b) I like my hobbies to be slightly faster-moving!

I'm not a huge golf fan, and I can't play it either! I won't be bothered who wins the Ryder Rup.

A dull game, it's not a sport by any stretch of the imagination. Loads of folk at my work play it and just seem to get stressed playing. They go on about it being a nice walk in the countryside. Since when has a golf course been countryside!

Chapping a wee ball as far as you can only to have to go and find it again is not my idea of fun.

Once drove past a WPGA tournament at Gleneasgles when I was young and dumb in a plain white hire van as some wifie was about to swing her stick at the ball I sounded my horn as mty colleauge shouted at the top of his voice "FORE". We got soem right dirty looks as we sped past. A few years later I was paid double time the whole weekend to be on standby for work at a PGA event there (I had VIP passes the lot) Spent my weekend eating over priced burgers and chatting to bored PR/model ladies.

hey golf isnt that bad guys!!!!
If you look at it as an all round sport, my mums ladies captain for a good golf club from oct, like any sport i suppose the social side off it is great i think.
A clubhouse, cheaper drinks lots nights out, good sunday lunch after a few holes is bit off a push when i get ask to go have a game

Golfs a fantastic game.

Only ruins a bad walk if you're crap at it, and then it ruins it for everyone else, but you have start somewhere i guess

I think we will retain the Ryder Cup......I hope

And I like watching it as well, been known to take time off to stay at home and watch the Open Championship
