I've never carried a drink on a run in my life...
... Probably why I can't understand why I see so many people lugging bottles around with them.

I have a bottle belt and find it comes in handy on longer runs. Anything above 6-8 miles, I find that I need to have some water with me and the belt lets me take a drink without having the hassle of actually holding the bottle all the way round.

I run with a bottle on every run over 4 miles, I always want a sip every mile I think it has become a comfort thing...

For 1 1/2 hours plus I'd be inclined to take a drink of some sort. I normally use a saucony fuel belt - fairly comfy, and spreads the weight of the water around your waist in little bottles. Bumbags can work OK too. Scr8pe, did you check that the valve was pressed open in your water rucksack?

I find I notice difference in my gait if I wear my GPS watch, and a water bottle's many times heavier than that! So I try not to run for ages with something that heavy in my hand.
