Parkrun - Results and Reports (post here)

There appears to be quite a few forum members taking part in the popular 5k 'time trial' parkrun 'races' and reports and results have are being posted fairly regularly in a number of the forums. I wondered if it might be an idea to start a dedicated thread to post your latest results and reports?

If others like the idea then maybe the mods could make this thread a sticky in '5K'?

Okay, I will start. I ran the Cambridge (Milton) Parkrun again today and it was more like the Para's 10 or a proper cross country. Before I left I was debating whether to wear my new bright yellow Mizuno's or my Adidas that have just come out of the washing machine. Adidas on feet I ran the 2.5m down to the park where I met with someone else from my village and 'Nat' (who breaks for cake) from the forum (not been around in a while though!) The course was amazingly muddy. Thick mud everywhere and ankle deep puddles every 20 meters or so.

They have not published the times yet so god knows what I did but I suspect it was some way of the time I did two weeks ago (probably about 25mins I guess), I nearly fell at least 10 times and when the organiser shouted go it was like a scene from scooby do. My legs were going around but I was standing in one place while everyone else surged past me.

I over took quite a few people and had a cracking time even if the time was never going to be good.

I made the right choice with the adidas but my god are they caked in mud now, not going to bother cleaning them again, they are now my parkrun shoes.

Will post my time once its published.

(thats me at the back!)

I think it might be a good idea.

I am hoping (been saying this for about 6 months now ) to try my hand at the local park run soon. Although going by your experience, I might wait until there is less mud all over the shop, but oh, the thought of spring saturday mornings

which is your nearest Rob? think theres 3 around Manchester. Heaton park is the easiest for me to get too (done 3 times so far).
course at heaton is mainly tarmac footpaths, and mud free.

The results for this week have just been published and unbelievably I got a new PB by 14 seconds 22m09s which considering I was sliding all over the place is very encouraging. I am pretty confident that in the dry or with some better footwear I could take at least a minute of that time.

I was 22nd of 88 runners and up amongst some of the club runners so an improvement on my first run two weeks ago

I've done two parkruns so far. The first one it turned out I was running with the onset of swine flu when I did it; the second I ended up getting a skin infection on a couple of blisters two days later. I feel like I'm jinxed with them so far!

The idea of them is fantastic though.
