I have Ready Brek because I can't stomach the real stuff! I make mine with half semi skimmed and half water, and half a teaspoon of sugar when it comes out of the microwave. Not had it so much recently...

How does a bowl of porridge compare with my usual breakfast of two poached eggs on toast? (from an energy / running point of view)?

It's more warming & filling, and depending on how you serve it... can have a variety of flavours to it
Energy wise... more carbs

I think microwaving porridge is something of an art form. Half a nanosecond at full power is the difference between a Bob Cratchit/Oliver Twist bowl of gruel and 'how many slices would you like?'

Amen to that. I've shouted many an expletive after trying to do it in the microwave. 5 mins on the hob all the way for me. A word of warning though, take your eyes off it for more than 30 secs at your peril!!
Oats + milk + banana + peanut butter = awesomeness on various different levels. I'd have it every day if I could!

Hell yeah, it works! Not too dissimilar from having it in a banana & milk smoothie, plus it ups the protein content!

adding maple syrup and chopped mango gets my vote. I only have it once a week when the kids have it on Saturdays. Rest of the time its my All Bran/Nuts/Apple/Prunes/Linseed concoction, plus a scoop of soya protein powder if I have just done a 12+ miler.

Depends how deep your love for the nutty stuff goes! I usually just add a bit, taste and add more if it needs it! Yup, banana gives it a nice natural sweetness!
