I reckon, no, I know I would had been sub 2 hours if I hadnt got really bad cramps or what ever it was seconds after taking the gel! I must have walked for at least a minute trying to recover from that. Dundee will be my chance to get sub 2 hours I know I can do it.

I must have been lapped by the winner as well but to be honest, I didnt notice him. I probably just thought they were fast runners

The good thing is though, Im not annoyed with myself for not getting sub 2 hours because I did better than my last time and since this was only my second 1/2 marathon Im really pleased.

So, come on people, sign up for the Dundee Half

Hi, Owain. I found the Scots page after all!

Again, well done to the organisers for making it such a great day. Weather was pretty much perfect for running. Apparently, Glasgow was sweltering at the time we were under a big cloud, but no complaints from me.
Hard course. On the second lap it was really apparent how many hills there were.

I was finding it difficult to take water on board while keeping my pace, I kept slowing down to drink only to be passed by 3 or 4 runners! They should request smaller bottles as most of it sadly gets thrown away.

Owain - if you want to quicken the pace try a few shorter races such as 10k. Less physical effort than the half but you should be able to maintain a slightly higher pace.

But wouldn't the faster pace involve more physical effort, but for a shorter duration? The drop in distance from half marathon to 10k would (should) provide a more intense workout. Potentially more demanding than the longer distance?

I ran the Dunfermline half marathon on Sunday, was my first race and really enjoyed the whole event. Managed to finish in 1Hr 58Mins which I was very happy with.
I am booked in for the Glasgow race in Sept can anyone tell me how this compares to the Dunfermline one.

Yes agree about the hills, the last mile going through the public park and up to the Glen gates was a killer.
I've got the bug now though, makes all the training worth while
