Start training now Once I get Strathaven out the way next weekend Im going to start upping my weekly milage so I am more prepared than last year. According to my calendar my training officially doesnt start until March but I will be starting earlier. Late January I reckon.

I've got my schedule down to start from Mid Jan atm... though I've got nothing planned really after the forum Social so I'll probs start putting in the mileage then, hopefully lose a few lbs and line myself up for a some heavy training and a few races before Edinburgh
No dreams for me just yet... only thoughts. I was debating what was possible for an average Joe with the right training... how far training can take someone in their running before their 'natural ability' becomes the limiting factor?

My training for the Duchy starts on Monday The social should be an 8 mile easy run

There was an interesting article in Runner's World about a bloke who had the same thoughts, and decided to see how far he could go. I think he got down to 2:30-ish, but suffered quite a few injuries along the way.
Like Owain, I'm picking up the mileage after the Social, but the training plan starts properly in February.

this is a long shot... but
seeing as we have quite a few people that appear to live in Edinburgh... would it be possible for someone to drive/ cycle the route with a video camera so us southerners can get to see the route?
