Good post Owain.

Is it the first or last over the line that gets the first round in.

It will be a miracle if I finish!

OK - realistically I (hope) it will be around 4:15. But there is a lot of time between now and then - so I may adjust accordingly!

If I was mad enough to enter the race, I would aim for and be happy with a sub 3:30, maybe sub 3:15

You're a 'sub 3' man JBBury - of course it'd be hard work but we both know you're capable

Added my details

Think I might look at getting a different water belt for this years marathon. The one I have has 2 bottles on it and it was a bit heavy until I had drank all the water. Saying that it was good knowing I had plenty of water with me, I even topped up the bottles at the water stops.

Hi I am Maran, been member for some time but mainly a reader of this forum,
Have been unsuccessful in getting a place with FLM 3 times.
So have decided to come to Edinburgh.

I have registered for the Edinburgh Marathon 2009. This is my first full marathon. Have done 4 half marathons, best time 1:48. No way I could keep up with 1:48 pace for the full. I am estimating to complete the marathon in 4:15, but aiming to do sub 4hrs. May be 3:59:59.
I will be travelling from London with the family.

Hi Maran, welcome to the forum Quite a trek from London to Edinburgh eh? As beasty says, with your current 1/2 marathon pace then you should be able to crack 4hours in 6months time, training pending of course
