Asics Gel 1120
I have just purchased a second pair of running shoes. Didn't want to pay to much, so looked at www.JoeJogger.co.uk and opted for my first pair of Asics.
Gel 1120's for £48 + p&p. Not only was I very impressed with the service from this on-line running shop, the shoes are superb. I payed £75 for my Nike Structure Triax 10+ and find the 1120's more comfortable.
Anyone wanting to get a good value stability shoe, try the Asics Gel 1120....

Sean,
The best place to go for runing shoes is a specialist running shop escpecially if its your first pair. They will assess your running style to see if you foot rolls inwards (overpronates) or outwards (suprinates) excessively and they will recommend a shoe type for you: neutral, stability or motion control.
Uncorrected overpronation can lead to all kinds of running related injuries as can wearing the wrong type of shoe.

nearest shop to be is up and running, but all i could see from their gate analysis was a treadmill with a small camera at the bottom. i could do that myself. And i would have to buy a pair of shoes with teh gate analysis or pay 20 quid for it. their shoes are quiet pricey

The expertise doesn't lie in the equipment itself but in the interpretation. It might be possible you could buy last years model at a slightly cheaper price. I would expect to pay around £70-90 for a proper pair of running shoes. At the end of the day its up to you but I started off in the wrong pair of shoes and developed lots of injuries, which put me out for 3 months. Asics are doing their tech tours don't know if they make it to norther ireland but you could have a look at www.techtours.co.uk

Although techically not due a new pair of shoes yet I couldn't resist the asics gait analysis - I have been getting a few niggles on the outside of my right ankle since my orthotics (special insoles) were adjusted. I was actually quite impressed as he had me walking in my bare feet at first to make sure I was overpronating - he was surprised I needed moton control shoes as he didn't thnk my pronation was that bad.
Anyway he tried me in a pair of motion control shoes (wthout orthotics), stability shoe, neutral shoe (with orthotic) The neutral shoe with the orthotic wasn't completely controlling the pronation in my right foot so we tried a mild stability shoe (Asics 1120 funnily enough) and even I could feel the difference straight away.
What really impressed me was they didn't just try asics shoes I tried asics and saucony - I really got the impression that he would have sold me what he thought was the right shoe for my foot. He sold a pair of Saucony Omnis to the woman before me.
I've been having some chiropractic treament on my back and pelvis at the moment and I noticed a difference in my left leg - it was driving through normally and my foot wasn't splaying out to the side so its seems my chiropractic treatment is working as well.
Anyway Sean sorry to babble on but I wanted to let you know what to expect. I also got a free towel (a big one) and a free water bottle (one of thoese you can put your hand through). I was also given some club discount on the shoes.

Asics shoes are very popular with runners if you ever race you will see lots of runners wearing them and they do lots of different models. Some poeple don't get on with them because some models have quite a high instep and they often cause blisters on the inside of the arch.
This is my first pair of asics usually run in Brooks but I've tried Saucony, Mizuno and New Balance. Shoe choice is really matter of personal preference, comfort and level of control appropriate to your gait.
As I said they should sell you a shoe that suits your feet and style of running not just an asics shoe and that was my experience today.
