That's right.

I sometimes come across shoes which I've forgotten I have!
Having a "rotation" of shoes can guard against injury.

If you run in the same pair day in, day out; your body is being treated in exactly the same way on each run.

Every joint, ligament and tendon is being put through an identical range of movement, which they inevitably "get tired of". Even alternating between just
two pairs can be an advantage (especially if one pair gets wet on your first run of the day... there's a dry pair for the second!).
No two pairs of shoes are identical. Almost like snowflakes. I often buy two pairs of the same model at the same time, and they're never quite the same when I'm running in them...and the older they get; the bigger the difference between them gets.
Of course, the "two-pair-purchase" can be an advantage with regard to the shoe manufacturer "improving" your favourite model to a version that you no longer like. Your
two pairs are going to last longer than your
one pair would've done; giving you longer to find a new favourite.
NB I do
not work for a shoe company or a shoe retail outlet!!
