Waiting for Christmas to pass to get cheap shoes in the sales
In the meantime I will keep on running with my Nike (Lots Of Unwanted) Air...

I've not actually raced in mine yet But i've done a few speed session in them and I certainly feel a difference, less weight and less cushioning means I can seem to 'feel' how I'm running more, and it may just be a psychological effect of being able to 'feel how I'm running' more, but I certainly feel faster and more spritely running in them.

The reduced cushioning seems to change my footstrike more towards the midfoot as well. Whether any of this will actually help in a race I have no idea! But i'll let you know when I finally get around to racing in them

Sorry about that...but it can be a bit difficult sometimes to "interpret" someone's mood or intent when merely reading words on a screen: especially when you don't know the writer personally.

Maybe we could get some more expressions in the "smilies" for christmas?!

Personally, there is little to beat the sensation of changing into racing flats or spikes at a race. The comparative lightness and responsiveness of the shoes is a great feeling. I'm always inspired to run faster once I've changed shoes; although this may be more of a mental stimulus than a physical one: I've never really thought about it that much I suppose.

I know the feeling all too well! I'm a happy chappy really - i'd never go out my way to annoy or argue with someone - especially not hiding behind a computer screen

On the topic of racing shoes - before I was a member on here and I frequented The Dark Side, I often read about topics such as racing shoes and more recently 'compression clothing', and all people seemed to talk about was the effect on times and results, and ultimately people saying "don't bother until you're quicker, you're only a beginner..... it won't make any difference until you're at a highly competitive level"

Having now bought racing shoes and some compression clothing, I have no idea what speed/time improvements they've brought me, but I would recommend them purely on the basis that they make me feel much better. Which in turn helps me get out and train!

Cool let me know.

I guess 80 pounds is a lot for new shoes, but least running is free.

Mike, yeah baring in mind what most other sports can cost, running is pretty cheap! I eman yeah you can spend a bundle on running kit... but no more so than for any other sport I reckon! Pretty sure i'd be trying more and more sports if I could actually afford to! hehe
