Well that's a bit pooey. I've not done my run out the way to the country lanes in a couple months because it gets to the point where it's just TOO dark and too dangerous. And a lot of the trail out that way is just that... mud trails with lots of rocks and what not sticking up through, slippy leaves, etc etc... maybe a head-torch would sort that out!! But... I don't want to run out that way badly enough to look like a miner.

What was the Adidas cushioning system? It had three coloured foam tubes that went perpendicular to the shoe and you could change the tubes, different colours were different density.

Lol that reminds me those toy things that were filled with gooo and when you squeezed them their eyes popped out... I wonder what inspired the designers of those shoes? But seriously... that's the most pointless idea ever!!

I wonder if you'd actually notice the difference whilst running? I'd imagine there was no real performance reason behind it, just another (useless) plan to grab more money!

It could be of course that the only real novelty from them is that the tube bits poke out as your foot strikes down... this just means you'd be trying to watch your heels as your running. If anything this would cause a health and safety issue.

I was going to mention those shoes!
If I remember rightly, they were originally called L.A. Trainers. The "lugs" in the heel were of differing densities, and inter-changeable; allowing you to customize the cushioning in the rear of the shoes. I wasn't even falling for that one ... even in the early 80's!
