Blister- for a year

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and just looking for a bit of advice. I've been a 'fair-weather' runner for about a year now, doing on average two six mile runs a week, and have just entered myself into the great north run, so wanted to start training a bit harder. I brought my running shoes about a year ago, and from day one I've been getting blisters on the instep of both of my feet. I thought I'd persevere with them but the blisters keep coming. so thought it maybe time to get a new pair. I'm willing to spend a bit more money now, as these were very cheap, but the terminology is confusing me. I don't have a clue what to go for, in terms of make style or anything really.

Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much, Alex

What kind of socks do you wear? - I used to get blisters on my instep, then I tried double layer socks and I've not had a single one since. It's a friction thing apparently.

I use Hilly twin-skins.

Not really - the inner layer is very thin

Get yourself down to a specialist running shop and get them to check out your runnin style.Might simply be the wrong type of shoe for your running style??
