Correct trainers to wear if overweight

Guys can anyone recommend any good trainers for someone who's overweight?

6ft tall male, 15st

I am considering getting some Nike Air Max 360's as I like the idea of an all round air-cushion....

any suggestions??

Hi

I would suggest you go to a specialist running shop. I did and it made all the difference to my running when I bought proper trainers...they did the gait thingy and made sure my trainers were suitable for the type of runner I am. Before I got proper trainers I suffered really badly with shin splints but now (touch wood) I have had no problem..

Ended up popping down to a shop called Runners Need near Holborn :-)

Jumped on the treadmill and the sales lady told me something about pronating?? and advised me to get a pair of Brooks GTS Six trainers

Not exactly for the style conscious, but comfy :-)

Hopefully they'll make a difference

Go to a specialist store.
You won't regret it! The NIke 360 is great if you need cushioning but limited support!
Specialist will sort you mate. Runners Need Holborn is an excellent store.

Hey I have a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6 and I think they are beautiful (I have the special edition metalic colours). Jp you are reasonally tall so your weight must be well distributed - less of the heavy runner ajtuna might get a complex.

jp pronation just means that your foot rolls inwards when you run - usually means you are slightly flat footed. When you run the foot rolls inwards as it strites the ground and then should roll outwards slightly but in about 70% of the population this rolling out doesn't happen.

Overpronation if not corrected can lead to lower leg, knee, hip and back injuries.

I would really recommend going to the specialist store as well. I bought my first pair of trainers from a specialist shop last month. I too am slightly overweight so wanted to ensure that I got the "correct" type of shoes.

The staff were excellent. They put me on a treadmill and then used a video camera to record my feet running. They played it back to me and explained the types of shoe I needed.

I ended up with Saucony Grid Hurricanes, which are easilty the most comfortable shoes I have ever run in.

Go for the specialist shop - it's the only way I will ever buy running shoes again..
